EAST HARTFORD — Oscar-winner Whoopi Goldberg will be the guest speaker at Goodwin College’s commencement in June.
Goldberg will be speaking alongside the class valedictorian, as well as one selected student speaker, Goodwin announced. Approximately 450 students are expected to walk in the ceremony.
Goodwin College will award degrees and certificates to 950 students this year in fields such as nursing, human services, education, business, manufacturing, and health care. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. on June 2 at Goodwin’s River Campus, located at 1 Riverside Drive.
Goldberg is one of the few people to have won the Oscar, Emmy, Golden Globe, and Tony awards. She was also the first African American woman to receive Academy Award nominations for both best actress and best supporting actress.
A live stream broadcast of the ceremony will be available on the college’s website, officials said.
